However, collecting as many business cards as possible is likely to be beneficial for you business. Instead of spreading your business cards and get plenty of other people’s business cards in return, it would be a lot wiser if you can focus yourself on something more valuable. Coming home with a hand full of business cards should not be your main goal. It will lead you to nothing more than a waste of time and energy.

You can say that you have successfully attended a networking event only after you can make connections to your ideal clients. Making connection with the people in the networking event is a lot harder than just exchanging your business cards. It would take more efforts from you. When you meet the people who have a great potential to become your next customer, you need to get yourself connected to them. Instead of offering your products and services directly, it would be much better if you listen to every word they say about their business, their company profile. This way, you can figure out what they really need from you. Once you get connected to them, then your follow up in the near future would be something that they expect from you.
