Many of my clients have start-ups or have been in business for a few years but aren’t making as much money as they want. Some one them are having trouble building their lists because they don’t have items to offer in return for signing up to their newsletters or email lists. If you base your business only on one-on-one coaching, or just working one client at a time, it will definitely take you a very long time to build your business and make money. But if you are selling products and put your business on automatic pilot, you will be able to sell products even when you sleep or go on vacation.

One of the comments that I get a lot from clients, is “Biba, I don’t have a product and I don’t know how to start.” Well I have a very easy solution for you that will solve this issue instantly.

In his book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, Robert Kiyosaki explains how to use Other People’s Money (OPM) to start a business or invest in real estate. Today, I will show you how to use Other People’s Products (OPP) to grow your business and get passive income, in a 3 easy steps, with the power of affiliate programs.

1. Select the right product – If you don’t have your own product (whether your are just started your business or have it for few years) the first thing you need to do is find people who have the same target market as you, but are not your competitors, and have products that are great complement to what you do.

2. Join an affiliate program – Check your network. You probably already know few trustworthy people that have the same target market as you. Check their websites for affiliate programs, then sign up, it is always free. Or check Clickbank to find products in your niche and do the same.

Most people who offer an affiliate program give you banners and/or write promotional text that you can use for free.

3. Just copy and paste – Then the only thing you have to do is just to copy and paste this text onto your website, your blog, or send in an email or a tweet to your lists. Et voilà! You are done. It can’t be much easier than that.

Now what is the real benefit of promoting Other People’s Products (OPP)?

If you don’t have your own product yet, it is an easy way to make extra money every month while you establish your business. Now let’s say that you already have your own product but you don’t have time to create a new one on a regular basis, promoting OPP help you to continue to build your list by offering resources to your clients. This will give you all the time you need to create your next product.

For example, I run various businesses and my French consulting firm takes 80% of my time, so I don’t have too much time to create new products for my marketing business. You may know my program “Power of Networking Secrets” but it took me at least 3 months to develop it in 2006. Then updating it in 2009 added a few more months. I can’t build a business with only one product. I offer networking and marketing coaching both in French and in English, which means I would need to create multiple products per year in both languages just to stay afloat. That is the reasons why affiliate programs are a great solution for me, because I can refer new products and resources to my clients on a regular basis and continue to grow my businesses without stressing to build a new product every month or every quarter.
