How do you get the most out of your blog?
7 Simple Tips for a Successful Blog:
1. Don’t use a free blogging platform or you might take the risk of having your blog disappear some day. To make sure that you will always be in control of your blog, use WordPress.org, very easy to set-up, buy a domain name, and host your blog. (You can buy a domain name on Godaddy for $10 to $12 and host it on Hosgator for $9.95/month. Host as many blogs or websites you want and will only pay $9.95/month, it is very inexpensive.)
2. Determine your niche and make sure their is an audience for it. Do research on other blogs, magazines, or newspapers on the same topics. Peruse to see what they write about, what their demographic is, what they sell. You don’t want to spend hours or months working on your blog and articles to realize the topics won’t make you a penny.
3. Chose your keywords by focusing on your niche. If you want to have traffic on your blog you need to be picked up by search engines. Do your home work to find out what the best keywords are for each of your posts. Check Google Keywords Tools, which is a free service, to find out.
4. Make your blog reflect your personality, write the way you speak, (expecting that you speak correctly). Don’t use jargon that nobody will understand. Make sure people recognize your style and relate to you. Give valuable information and tell something about you and your business so that your readers will get to know you so that you will build your credibility AND your list.
5. Interact with your audience. The more valuable information you will give and share with your audience the more they will give back to you and buy your products or services. To learn more about your readers, ask them questions and give feedback. When you get comments start a discussion with your readers. The more you will interact the more interest your will have and the more traffic you will get.
6. Use pictures and videos. Look at any newspapers they use pictures to be more attractive to their readers. The same goes for your blog. Statistics show that adding pictures and videos will bring you more traffic and people are more likely to come back. If you’re not good on camera or don’t want to create your own video, check videos on Youtube related to your niche and add them on your blog as a resource to your readers, but make sure always to give credit to the original poster.
7. Make money. If run correctly with consistent posts and articles your blog can also make you money. You can promote your products or services or promote other people’s products via affiliation program. But don’t be too pushy. Don’t transform your blog to look like a Christmas tree full of banners or people will get annoyed quickly and won’t come back. Promote via articles or a free offer, a free Cd, a free teleclass or webinar that will redirect people to your sale page. Then start the selling process. The more informative your blog will is the more you will attract clients instead of chasing them down.
